People are so quick to say "nothings wrong with me I just have an addictive personality", but from my experience this is usually bullshit. Denial is a force to be reckoned with. Also people underestimate the "slow burn" type of trauma. Like if your father never once told you he was proud of you and he criticized you all the time. That can fuck you up just as bad as some other more obvious things.
in today's society,as it has always been,ANY reference to an abusive childhood, being relentlessly bullied,or virtually any traumatic event suffered in our younger years,is viewed as an EXCUSE,or WEAKNESS,on our own part.more so if these events happen in later years.one becomes a pussy,or a loser.when nothing is further from the truth.
it's usually those types who are looking for attention or sympathy.that are weak.
people who have suffered real trauma are usually some of the toughest, most resilient people around.but only for so long.internal pain from parental abuse, physical abuse, and sexual abuse, hurt much more than physical pain.much of that pain is turned inwards, and not expressed, because that would make us weak.but we are not made to function that way.which in turn usually leads to some form of addiction,to keep that pain from spreading.....
