Why are house and dubstep in the same subforum?

They are just so different! Plus house has way more variety in terms of styles of production compared to dubstep.

They are both noise..

Noise is together in one forum like all music....

All music is just a wide range of frequencies which are just vibrations

Ok. I'm not trying to be an ass. But House HAS to be the most ridiculous with it's various sub genres.

And clearly you haven't listened to enough Dubstep...there are many flavors...such as megatron assfuck and that other kind that all the cool kids say is better ...and... megatron assfuck?

Probably because there's hardly any activity for House and Dubstep to begin with, so why not put them together.

The difference between a Burial track and the last Excision club ripper is staggering.

People don't realise all fucking music is the fucking same... You can pick any subgenre of any music genre of all times, and you will always find predictable commercial douchebags on one side and dedicated talented artists on another side. You will find ADD kids making an unfathomable mess of noise on one side, and a bunch of Hipsters brainfucking about subtle changes and production details in a 10-minute track on the other side. It's a rather unfortunate event that Dubstep is known as the music produced by the former category. Saying Dubstep is megatron-assfuck is like saying Jazz is about stoned guys playing random notes. Or that IDM is about putting as much wierd noises as possible in a track.

Also, if I was Benwaa, Dubstep would totally be in the Techno subforum. Same abstraction, same attention to groove, same crushing sub-bass, same innovative feeling, same dark tone and ambiance. Oh yeah.

Fair play. I actually like plenty of Dubstep. Just a bit of a joke because as you say it seems everything gets divided into polar opposites--was just poking fun at those opposites.

And the Techno comparison is spot on--in fact much of the Dubstep I like has all those Techno elements.

That is some hawt azz robo-porn. Gotta go jack on to that...

The thing people fail to realise is that House and Dubstep are actually quite closely related. Dubstep after all evolved from Garage right? Just because all this midrange nonsense sounds so far removed from House music doesn't make it so.
This subforum attracts so many uneducated arsehats it's unreal.
There's so many artists out there right now combing elements of House and Dubstep, just open your ears.

Fuck this topic, we've been through it more than enough times already.

Re: Why are house and dubstep in the same subforum?

^^ dude is right actually.
For a long time I was wondering the same and laid the blame very much at the feet of one of our american ex-mods for being clueless, thinking that it was all basically slowed down breaks/dnb mix.

But yeah, lately it's become much more apparent where the real crossover is.
So much Electro/house/dubstep crossover (probably got it's own genre title I don't know yet) happening right now it's actually really refreshing and inspiring.
Barriers are being eroded which is great imo.

Wait, what?

Nearly all of the recent flame wars on this precise subforum (okay, I participated in half of them) were related to that new wave of that Dubstep wobbling cross-breed with Electro/House screamies that Americans are consuming in massive amounts.

But yeah, naw, if you take the "electro" out of that quote, it's actually right. You have people getting tired of, like, either the pure strains of Dubstep which, honestly, kinda got stuck at one point, OR the wobbling America-Step, and that take back the Garage and the 2-step back in it and add a touch of Indie attitude, and then suddenly you have like Bon Iver and Joy Orbison and Scuba making minimal techno-Dubstep that sounds like a busty German blonde girl having a musical sex tape with a cute English redhead...
