Shadow of the Colossus
Biohazard Sound Chronicle ( if u are in to creepy ambiance and piano)
Castlevania Lament of Innocence
All the Mega Man games and 20th Anniversary ROCKMAN 1～6 Techno Arrange ver.
(Rockman is the original title of Mega Man for those who didn't know)
an orchestral slightly medieval sound I would strongly point towards Final fantasy tactics. legend of mana wouldnt be a wrong choice either imo @oly hit it on the nail really, as id only really suggest other squaresoft games.
as for the electrionic/future bit
extreme-g on n64 has that type of sound, bear in mind this is from a n64.
I also like the music for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade (4 Players) made by Mitsuhiko Izumi. Most of Konami's games have pretty wild music with them. I'd say same also applies for Capcom's stuff.
I think this is one of the best game ost ever made , or just pretty high in my personal favourites -
I've been recently hooked up on listening on constant repeat osts of some the arcades which i used to play as a child Final Fight Black Tiger Crude Buster , TMNT , E-Swat Cyber Police [
Final Fight has some pretty badass melodies and drums
yeah and basslines
also Panic restaurant music is cool
i notice how much of that era of games' music is influenced by funk and japanese synths, okay and oberheim
There is a lot of funk in there as already mentioned
The Neverhood music be Terry S. Taylor is otherworldly fun
