Well rap isn't actually a genre. It's a vocal style. Hiphop is a genre. I like both. Except I like the good bits.
Fuck Snoop Dick and Xibidick and 50 Dick. I'm talking about real hiphop and rap.
Swampfoot, Twin Lizard, Scroobius Pip, Fort Minor. I'm also doing a collab project with a rapper soon.
And there's also this guy, who's on here... Somewhere.

I'm an atheist, but i really like the point he's making in this.
Public Enemy and KRS-One and Massive Attack and Soul II Soul and KMFDM are about the only one's I listen to for lyrical rhythms upon a music bed. Yeah that's right, Massive Attack is rap, done in a whisper, but it's still rap.
There's plenty of good rap but it doesn't get mainstream airplay most of the time. Here's some classics from the golden era.
just like any other genre, there's terrible, bad, fair, so-so, good, and great rap and/or hip hop. If you think it all sucks, chances are that you've had the great misfortune of not hearing enough varieties of rap.
I think the current state of rap is really poor and I don't bother listening to it.
I really like Silver Bullet's 20 seconds to comply. The attitude in this track is just immense . Also some of the Prodigy tracks with rapping in them are alright, e.g Diesel Power.
To conclude, in the right context I do like it but most often this is not the case nowadays.
just curious, cos i hate it, how many true musicians actually like this kind of music.
Are you fucking trolling or what? Good rap delivers so much more than any IDM out there.

This has got to be trolling again.
I like the artists you listed as "bad" more than the ones you listed as "good". I'm not saying I like everything they ever did, but I listened to both Snoop and X today.
I am surprised overhow little people seem to be into hip-hop here. I mean, there's alot of stuff that normally has a idm-crossover that no one seems to know anything about here. No, I'm not talking about Prefuse.. People who are into electronic music usually bumps some Def Jux or AntiCon stuff.
I like some stuff that has been influenced by rap and hiphop but pretty much never listen to it straight up. Mostly it's just not relevant to my interests, musically or meaning-wise.
