Best gear to expand my Microbrute on a budget?

I just ordered my first analog synth- the Microbrute. Being semi-modular was a huge selling point for me so I'm looking into how I can best expand with it on the least budget. It would be great to get started slowly building a eurorack but damn if it isn't expensive for me right now. cheap is the way for the time being, so I'm looking at getting one of the volcas and some guitar effects pedals. Any other options I should consider? thanks.

I like my microbrute but the patchbay is a little gimmicky imo - ok, so you can use the lfo on another synth (assuming it has cv control) or envelope but they're not massively complex so results aren't necessarily that impressive imo.

Something like a dark energy, mother32 or 0-Coast might compliment it nicely though. Or some fx as the MBrutes don't come with any.

If your budget is less than the MicroBrute, then look into guitar FXs.

learn about electronics and diy, you will be amazed how cheap it will cost you, you can make guitar effects that cost 100 - 200 $ for 10-20 $

This is a really great idea that I hadn't even considered. Thanks!
