Yup. I've spent like an hour or less and it was a hell of a fun. Tbh, harsh noise is really easy to make; you don't really need to care about mastering or clipping, just mash some shit together using different effects. Atmosphere is pretty much one of your samples stretched and pitched down with a long reverb. I used some virtual amps too.

Re: Take the Harsh Noise Challenge!!!

hey i'd like to have a go too (for fun times) but the original dropbox link is down? if you have to reupload it or anything don't bother though haha.
i encountered a situation a little similar to yours, kvlt, the other day - i was emulating a gba game on my psp and it glitched out and gave me this funky noisy chiptune loop.... here it is somebody wants Take the Harsh Noise Challenge™ with it [Only registered and activated users can see links. One sample used, #2:
Melodies/bass - single cycle cut out of #2.
Glitches - sampler fuckery (random panning, pitch, effects, etc) with #2.

Notes and glitches are triggered by generative composition tools. Recorded/modulated in real-time.

No other samples were harmed in the making of this whateverthehellitis.

Uses all 16 sounds, no other editing except for panning.

I don't know, I still love the mixing and mastering process. There's just a greater margin of what's acceptable in the genre, but it still goes way higher from there.

Thanks!
There's quite alot you can do if you strip it down to single cycle stuff ("oscillator/wavetable"). Throwing a blip into a sampler allows for endless modulation, LFOs, envelopes, filters, effects, etc.

Native or external is cool, I'm really into hearing what people used either way

Yup. I'm going to make sample pack 2 out of some sort of accidental reverse engineering / raw data from more video games, will post it up tonight if all goes well.

Anyone else can throw into the pile of accidentally created shit or check out the community junk noise project for more similar noise fun.

This sounds like a cool way to get some creativity flowing... I don't really know what harsh noise music is by why not
