Just occured to me that I could reuse the same template in fls that i have set up for my current song with side chain baseand eq'd drums and bass etc. ANd my fave synths and fx all set up ready to go..
Rather than do this every time i make a new song lol
I never even thought about that..Just delete all patterns and save as template
I have a couple of templates saved depending on what I want to do. The only one with any instruments/sounds in it is themalm live set template. That's because it's easier to put together a live set with shit you're more familiar with.
The other couple I have are more to do with routing to/from external equipment and midi routings that I can't be bothered to do over and over again every new project.
So yeah, they serve their purpose for what they do. I think any template with pre arranged sounds instruments effects etc can detract from the overall creative process if you're approaching writing an entirely new track. Whilst at the same time saving all your gear/midi routings it can really speed up workflow
The first song in any recording project usually ends up being used as a template for the rest of them. I also use a basic mastering template that has everything loaded up and just insert sound into it, then tweak, then render and save.
I once made a template with some basic tracks and sends, simple stuff I used a lot. But I quickly found out I always deleted every track when I started a new idea. I guess I just like starting from scratch. Every new idea deserves its own blank canvas.
I do have a specific way of organizing my tracks/effects that make my project files quite consistent though, I guess you could also call this a template. It's just not storeable in advance.
yeh i just mean u might have say in FLS ur fave drum samples set up in the step sequencer.
And already got your bass synth fx sidechained to the kick fx etc..
stuff like that..things that u will use in practically every song or most.
Maybe even a section of fx set up for side chain to kick so if u wanna side chain a synth to kick just takes 1,2 clicks rather than do the whole thing etc.
Small stuff like that.
Or maybe u have template for diff things
like trance template wher eu have ur fave trance sounds and sfx already loaded etc
My OpenOffice forgets I have a template setup, so I don't even bother with Live. It's a good idea, but right now I just delete the two return tracks with the random effects settings on them and pretend I don't hate myself.
Definitely. Do half the base at the beginning, that way it gives you enough energy to make your base out of the sofa cushions, then drink all the vodka, then do the rest of your base in the base at the end, just as the sun's coming up.
i used to use effect templates a lot and a few saved synth presets. But now i try to keep things fresh. The main templates i use now are just screen layouts.
You know what? If none if you fucking trolls replied to this guys threads he wouldn't make do many if them for you to be a bunch of cunts about. The biggest idiots here are the guys feeding these threads with BS and having a go. Well here's the thing. Keep on doing it and you'll find yourselves banned. It doesn't matter how noob a noob is, if you don't want to help then don't post in the threads. I get that noobs asking questions can get annoying for some, but it's a forum for learning and sharing about electronic music production.
So IMO the amount of threads like this that get created is kind of related to how many people post in them, with advice or not.
So either play nice or fuck off. There's no room for what's beginning to amount to bullying on this forum.
ldid u merge this with my base thread? on what bassis u think this was acceptable? or im just getting confused between this thread and my side chain bass thread..oh damn
RFJ merged it. He's a secret mod and I'm outing him. This thread finally has a purpose. Note that purposes are not in any way related to dolphins.

Ok, all fair points. But given this has been left in the side room when on the surface its a studio/DAW question, its a hint from the mods that its fair game.
