Ikutaro Kakehashi - Rest In Peace

To the man who changed the face of music as we know it today, Ikutaro Kakehashi, founder and engineer at Roland, thank you. The obituaries being penned now will only scratch the surface regarding the influence and effect you had on the modern world. Rest In Peace.

Yeah, I just saw this sad news.
Man, so many good numbered boxes over the years.
Legend.

The movie 808 should be essential watching for anyone with just a passing interest in modern music anyway but it shows just how far one machines reach was. The kick and the closed hat of the 909 still features on countless new tracks on Beatport everyday. The 303 created a cultural revolution and entire youth movement. Where would reggae be without the RE-201? And that's before we even think about how many global hits were made by the Juno or Jupiter8.

Like you say, a legend.
