EBM / Industrial acts moving toward metal

Combichrist moved to rock
Dawn of Ashes moved to black metal
Now FreakAngel's new album is out and it's metal...

I certainly see how bands evolve, change grow - but am hopefully not seeing a trend here.

Also, this subsection of the forum needs some action
(Or maybe that's why they are moving on to better established scenes..)

Bingo. People listen to metal.

However, that's not really that much different than what they've done in the past. Following trends and reacting to popular movements of the club scene and whatnot.

I wonder if Icon of Coil fans were upset when Combichrist came about?

True enough, but there are already a million+ screamy metal bands out there & now they lose what made them "unique".

Plus side is it makes room for others that want to emulate or follow they path they made.

Dunno, just kinda a let down.
At least they are still making music (and didn't switch to Trap/EDM).
