Mixer for studio

Hey,

So I'm a bit of an ignoramus when it comes to gear.

I've got some old analogue equipment (Roland SH-101 and TR-606) and a digital piano and a mic and want to get a mixer so that I can hook these all up to record at the same time. I have a focusrite saffire 6 USB audio interface and use Ableton as my DAW.

Any hints for what would suit me mixer wise? I am seeing there is a lot of stuff out there and I don't really know where to begin my search.

Many thanks.

Get a second hand compact Mackie VLZ and you'll be just fine.

Re: Mixer for studio

You may want to think about what it is you want to accomplish with that mixer. If all you want to do is to record your gear, then an audio interface with enough inputs is really all you need. If you want flexibility in routing audio OTB, then think about what you want to accomplish. That perhaps is more important if you intend to accommodate more outboard effects. It's remarkable how quickly you can run out of channels.
