Looking for a second (cheap) Audio Interface

I just setup my Laptop on a small Table I recently bought, in the living room and noticed as I don´t want to unplug cables everyday again I´d need a second audio interface; Seen some pretty cheap ones (starting at 15€) on ebay classifieds, also Behringer makes some cheap ass ones (around 30€). Actually I don´t want to spend more than 30-40€...

Do any of you have any experience with budget audio interfaces? Latency, drivers, compatibility in general etc..Don´t need Midi In/Out I think.

Thanks in advance

Re: Looking for a second (cheap) Audio Interface

I bought one of these for $30 at a pawn shop and it works perfectly on my laptop. I run my Roland TD-3 drumkit through it flawlessly. I would avoid Behringer but that's just me.

Re: Looking for a second (cheap) Audio Interface

The problem with Behringer is they are so hit and miss. They do have some awesome sleeper products (they have a fully loaded patch bay whose price can't be beat, also some of their ADATs I think). If you aren't gigging with Behringer gear you'll *probably* be OK? I know build quality is something the skimp on often to keep cost down, but also shady components. I'd just research it a lot first and watch out for too many reviews with product failure in the first 90 days.

I dunno. I'd say Focusrite but some people claim driver issues with them. I briefly had a Tascam that worked immediately and flawless which wasn't a bad deal (60 USD if I recall).

I don't know if you have online classifieds (what is it in Europe, gumtree?), but that might be a good place to look.

I'd also trust anything that's not Berhinger. Everything I've ever owned by them was a complete piece of shit

I know everyone hates Behringer here but the UCA202 is actually really good for the price.

Re: Looking for a second (cheap) Audio Interface

i swear by behringer, check out their small xenyx usb interfaces. i have an 802 and a 302, both have been running for 5+ years now, dirt cheap. the 802 has a scratchy pot by now, but that is to be expected - i just use the individual levels and keep the main mix pot fixed.

I agree with 666, at least in regards to anything that actually affects the sound from behringer. The controller you speak of is awesome though. I've heard some of their adat ad/da's are pretty slick for the price too. Anyways, back to the topic. Do you need the interface for tracking things, or just for the audio card bits and monitor outs?

Re: Looking for a second (cheap) Audio Interface

Actually just for monitoring with my headphones. I thought about making the living room a place for focusing on audio editing and arrangement work. So basically I just need a headphone out with volume pot and working drivers

Re: Looking for a second (cheap) Audio Interface

Oh, I gotcha. If you aren't planning on really using the pres and are looking to just use the DA conversion, I would grab one of the Behringer U-PHORIA usb thingies. should work just fine for taking some of the audio processing work off your computer and give you headphone and volume control.

I bet an interface by itself would be ok, so long as there's no inbuilt preamp. They can't seem to do do drive, distortion, or color without fucking it up

If it's just for monitoring, I don't know if there's anyway to go wrong. Just don't go for the $2 USB dongles on eBay like I did, and you should be set

I have US-122MKII. I'm pretty statisfied that interface, just don't forget upgrade the firmware because it can became a bitcrusher if you put some USB drive into your PC. I don't know it's only happened to me or not.

Decided to wait 'til next month, bought a Novation Nocturn Keyboard instead. The knobs on my Oxygen 25 3rd Gen feel like glued on and the keys like soap^^

Tthe Novation Nocturn 25 is superb! Just Wow. That Fatar keybed is perfect and even the drum pads work great. Also Automap works like a charm. 59€ refurbished from the UK on ebay. The difference is like night and day.
