Listened while studying so it was not a proper LISTEN, but i enjoyed most of the tracks (except for Kontenjaz and another one which i can't recall) but it is the kind of album you really need to pay attention to while listening, so i will probably come back to it when i have some free time.
Anyway, this is definately going into my "to buy" list.:badger:
Had a few listens, I'm enjoying it, especially Kontenjazz and rayc fire 2. Sounds like a continuation from ufabulum, while expanding the sound as well. More intricate in it's programming than it's predecessor. Certainly a higher tempo throughout. However he dresses up those synths, Jenkinson always sounds like Jenkinson, pseudo cure melodies and all.
Because it's a Squarepusher release of course I was initially disappointed that it didn't sound like *insert favorite previous release here*.
It's good to hear Squarepusher go all out on the glitching, something his been fairly modest with in the past IMO. The most recent track of the same sorta glitched out intensity that is reached on this LP was probably "The Modern Bass Guitar" from Hello Everything.
Even if a lot of the funk from his older material is lost, some of the chords unbearably cringe-cheese, and the composition pretty flat sounding, it's well worth sticking throughout each track for the most hectic bits if you're into really crunchy glitchy music. And if you're not you're probably gonna dislike this.
