Anyone used one of these?
I kinda want one just to have something to fool around with sounds and then maybe resample them

I might ask for it as a Christmas gift, but if there's any other cool little gear similar to this that anyone can recommend I'm all ears

Re: Korg mini Kaoss Pad

I had ago with one at producers sessions live - was ok, i couldn't really get it to do what I wanted but that could be me aha.

It was the full pad I had ago on, but I am thinking of getting the mini for xmas too.

The Kaossilator looks cool too, anyone have thoughts on that?

Re: Korg mini Kaoss Pad

I also noticed the Zoom H1
[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click here to register]

I've heard that the Zoom H2 is a lot better, but I think it wouldn't be bad to get for the price

And my cousin works for musiciansfriend so I can get a discount!

Re: Korg mini Kaoss Pad

I want advice goddammit!

The Kaossilator looks really cool and I can make one of those clear grids to go underneath the screen
And the Zoom H1 has good enough quality for what I need

A mod should retitle this to be "Advice on my Christmas desires please"

Re: Korg mini Kaoss Pad

well bang for the buck, the mini kp is unrivaled

all the effects are nice, but the ones id seperate for the working idmfer is definetly 73 77 78 patches

73 is like a mid range re sequencer/looper, 77 a forward reverse looper, 78 vinyl emulation

they really work wonders, and easy bpm settings, fast patch browsing

also hpf lpfs are decent, and flangers too

all in all, if you are into live performing, go for it

in the studio, its usefull, but a hassle to wire through, at least for my lazy ass

i chopped up tuneboxes tune some time ago, all in all it took me like 20 minutes to come up with this

kaossilator i had no exp in so i cant say

a big minus is the -10 db it has on the signal, but overall sound quality is decent

and battery operated! but the headphone amp is weak

Re: Korg mini Kaoss Pad

Cool sounds in that man!

I'm feeling pretty set on the Kaossilator and field recorder
With the Kaossilator I'd mostly be recording pieces for sampling and anything I use as an actual instrument doesn't have to be terrific quality, I mostly make industrial music so the poor quality could be a bonus
I'm just looking for ways to get some new sounds and incorporate some different methods into my music

Re: Korg mini Kaoss Pad

I was also checking out the Zoom H1 (and the Tascam DR-05) on Amazon. Kind of settled on the H1 as I've read good things and the price is quite good. Never used a field recorder before so not too sure what to look out for.

The Kaoss Pad is one of those things I really want, but I know I'll probably end up using the least...Saying that though - if you're listening Santa...

Re: Korg mini Kaoss Pad

The kaossilator is awesome, lots of fun. I've only messed around with my friends but it took seconds to learn and the loop feature was handy. We really just played around with it when we were drunk though, no serious writing or anything, but you can easily make some catchy tunes on it.

Re: Korg mini Kaoss Pad

Well then I think I'll get it
A lot of my music has mechanical loops and things like that, so it'll be cool to just record improvisation and chop it all up
