More House Like This?

Ok, this is what I'm talking about:

I don't know if this is mainstream, underground or whatever... Where I live the house scene is doomed and I get excited everytime I found something a bit different, you know, out of the mainstream electro scene (david g, deadmau5,etc...). So I need more house like Breakbot, that funk, disco thing going on really is amazing.

If there is anyone else making this kind of music NOWADAYS, please let met know, I'm begging you.

Thanks in advance.

Re: More House Like This?

It's funny, this actually a modern take on an old style. You used to hear this kind of cut up disco stuff a lot out of the Chicago and NY club scenes in the 90's (not as well produced, but the same sort of vibe for sure).

I think some people are calling it Nu-Disco now. A quick search on Google and YouTube pulled up some good stuff.

*EDIT* Check out the Stereo Sushi series--they do a lot of this kind of stuff...

The whole slowed disco edit sound is pretty popular on the US west coast right now. Check out the labels Wolf + Lamb Black, Hot Creations, Culprit.

That's exactly why I asked NOWADAYS, ahahaha. I was searching for more tunes and I ended up getting many stuff from the 90's. Even tough there's some really good stuff there, I just wanted to know what's going on now. But googling Nu-Disco is definitely a good start. Thanks for the tips!

Not really the exact sound I was looking for but this is also good, thank you! I'll be spending sometime looking for something on those labels.
I have to say that I'm kinda impressed that theres a disco sound thing going on right now, I thought that would be limited to a few french producers. Good to know! I envy people that live in a area with a decent e-music scene.

Yeah his tunes are really good. So funky, so 80s and so fresh at the same time. Was really impressed to see he's part of the ed banger crew.

Re: More House Like This?

Oh ya, lots and lots of cool stuff within the "nu-disco" universe. Some of the more popular acts include Holy Ghost!, Flight Facilities (awesome live), Classixx, The Twelves (which is a bit harder and more synth-heavy) and Aeroplane (Aeroplane is no longer a duo, but one of them is still making nu disco under the alias "The Magician"). I've come to love this genre more and more, lovin' the funky bass, the groovy percussion and the even more funky vibrato-synth.

Re: More House Like This?

I love Breakbot. So very much... I've been looking for similiar stuff to him but he's pretty unique all in all. Madeon is similiar but a lot more electro house influenced. The Bag Raiders have a vaguely similar sound but again still not really there. Have you checked out Siriusmo? Not very much like Breakbot but I have a feeling you'd like it. Then of course there's all the Ed Banger guys...
