Would anyone be down to have a competition for dubstep producing? You can do whatever you want to put together a nice heavy beat, however the catch is you can't use the NI Massive synth. All I ever see on youtube these days is crappy dubstep remixes of everything using the same massive presets. We could do it with a popular vote on idmf. All of it's for fun and stuff and totally honor system of course.
I say anything is acceptable as long as its got that half time 140 ish bpm dubstep rhythm, kick on 1 snare on 3, etc. Also, there will be a focus on bass of course, but inventive bass glitches and resampling will trump a standard patch of course. Anyone have any other rules that seem logical? When's a reasonable time for a deadline? October 1st seems to be a good amount of time.
Everyone's allowed in of course haha, let me know if you want to be a judge also. I'm not sure if I'll do a song, but if I do I obviously can't judge anything. But yeah, let me know if anyone wants to judge.
3 minutes is the minimum time. I feel like if anyone goes much under that it's becoming more of a sketch rather than a fully developed song. The deadline is October 1st, just put your songs on this thread and we'll go through them.
Are there any other questions/concerns?
Edit: Remixes are ok. Originals are great but if you had intended to do a remix or there's a great song you wanted to remix that is fine. I feel the main factor in the judging will be the creativity of the song so it would be better to remix something without using all the original melodies and the like.
