Anyone here a podcast fan?

I'm addicted to them and listen to them all day long at work... then continue to listen on my drive home where I listen to them even more at night. I no longer watch TV... podcasts are about 90% of the entertainment I consume.... the other 10% being Netflix.

My favorites are the ones that deal with fringe topics such as the paranormal, conspiracies, all varieties of pseudo science (but also some that deal with hard science), ancient history... lost and alternate history. I also like a few comedy podcasts.

Favorites: Mysterious Universe, Grimerica, The Higherside Chats, Expanded Perspectives, The Unexplained with Howard Hughes, Psychedelic Salon, Red Ice Radio, The Dollop, Duncan Trussell, Joe Rogan, Walking the Room (rip), Mike and Tom Eat Snacks, Comedy Bang Bang, the Mental Illness Happy Hour.

Anyone?

Radiolab, Startalk, Honey Badger Radio, Drunken Peasants, Co-optional Podcast, The WAN Show, Tek Syndicate, and Joe Rogan experience are all pretty nice. Though Joe can be a bit conspiratorial at times.

My wife and I recently listened to one called serial. Pretty good stuff based around real life events surrounding a muder. More like a case study it was being as most all the people involved participated.

What's the significance of 1481? Seen it in a few posts of yours now I think.

I have no idea. It keeps happening to my posts on here for some reason. Every time I edit to delete it, it just comes back.

Star Talk is excellent. I recommend The Infinite Monkey Cage with Brian Cox, which is similar. Also, The Skeptics Guide to the Universe is another great science podcast.

Re: Podcasts

Interesting topic. I just started getting into podcasts but can't actually do real work whilst listening to them. As a learning producer, the Producer podcast as EDM giant podcasts are good to hear different producers around the world and how they develop their music. Although I don't know most of them, it's good to discover new artists and how develop themselves and their music.

This makes me wonder if there's anyone who listens to podcasts without doing something else at the same time, which is kind of a weird image really.

I listen to loads of stuff.

I listen to them while I smoke,

I really enjoy the dwarf fortress talks, hearing what the dev's toady and threetoe think is really nice and I love to hear about the inner workings of things or little situations they deal with with the games development, they also answer fan's questions which is cool.

I'd really like to hear talks on subjects like music but havent really found one yet..

That's why I listen to that kid of stuff while I'm driving in the car or sitting in a trai or bus.

Same with audio books, I tend to get distracted and at some point realise I haven't listenening for the past few mins lol

While I like the Ricky Gervais Show podcast. The XFM radio show is a bit more organic and spontaneous. You also have the benefit of it being live, with all the mistakes and interactions with the public.

You're my new favourite. Totally agreed. Been listening to season 2 again the last few days. If you haven't heard it check out Series 0/XFM early years (that says series 1 but it's series 0) stuff too. Very dated but fantastic. There's no Karl, and some of it is "best of" so you'll hear some repetition but it's a little "wilder" than the usual XFM stuff, and there's more banter between Gervais and Merchant.

Re: Podcasts

Not really an avid follower or listener to podcast, not really got into them

Only two I ever listen to are "UBK Happy funtimePro" on soundcloud and "Phonica Records".

Be happy to get some links to anything of interest tbh, if I find time to listen in!

Thanks. The banter between Gervais and Merchant is amazing. Series 2 of the XFM show is probably my favorite. The episode where Gervais explains why he was kicked off Radio 1 and what he said about Simon Mayo and Karl says, with perfect timing, "Yeah yeah yeah, but why... why aren't you still there?" Then the episode with the first rockbuster call-in where the caller accuses Karl of ripping off Mayo, Ricky's reaction always has me rolling.

Re: Podcasts

The Tom Woods Show (Anarcho-capitalism, Libtertarianism)

Joe Rogan Experience (Fringe topics, health, psychedelics, and just all around interesting guests)

The Voluntary Life (Personal Finance, Financial Independence, Entrepreneurship, bit o' psychology)

HARDCORE HISTORY (Amazing details about history most people don't hear about, narrated BRILLIANTLY; probably my most recommended podcast)

IntelligenceSquared Debates (Debates about stuff)

Stanford Business Podcast (A podcast about business from Stanford University)

The Tim Ferriss Show (Business, Health, Lifestyle)

Waking Up with Sam Harris (Philosophy, Counter-argument)

The Beige Phillip Show (Bitches & Ho's)

I tried listening to Rollins but I was out and about, wearing headphones. It was so quiet I couldn't hear it at full volume.

You like Stanhope and Bull Burr don't you? I haven't listened to much of Bill Burr's but it seems cool, he does it by himself mostly, just rambling. Stanhope's podcast is great but he has so many local guests and stuff that it might not mean much to just jump in any old episode, but I'd definitely recommend it.
