Very nice track, like the key changes and the vocal. Almost a folk/polka vibe, like the choice of percussino sounds (creates an image). Two things I would love to hear would be a nice low sub hit every few bars or phrases so spread the frequency range. The hit/snare, in my mind, could be changed to a heavy metalic hit reflecting the strength and dominance of the viking. As it is a little light.
Other than that fantastic track.
These are authentic rare and ancient instruments used, so you don't get a tech sub or or disco lights or anything else no hehe. Inspired by roman era music; means the composition in essence, from roman era music as written down 2000+ years ago. But also the instruments, they are ancient and sometimes rare, all my viking era music is basically made from this frame of reference. It has apart from my world music, also been the most popular abroad actually. 200+ Brazilians on my facebook page as a result of my world and viking era music, can't be wrong ofc Maybe I'm closing more in on samba than I know myself tho
yeah but that doesn't change fact that snare is out just saying, cull your enemies skulls with axe by the name of odin, record it and use it instead of snare, if you wont do it i will think you are pussy
The drums in that video sounds more like something invented hundreds or thousands of years later: The orchestral timpani. It packs a lower end than the frame drums I have indeed, but if you want to keep it somewhat authentic, then you can't just fill in the blanks for whatever modern spectrum you wish hehe.. In other news, then I have cheated sometimes, and used instruments from the British isles, like highland pipes and fiddle.. I assume the vikings stole them ofc, they had some issues with the whole mine-and-theirs thing as it is
Two pieces of wood slamming together sounds like an EDM snare? Hehe, the vikings didn't live in vain then
i get it despite what is source of it it still sounds out of place,___ ______ ____ ________ _____ __ ____ ____, metallic percussion like swords clashing or swords hitting shield would be more fitting, it will also sub bass because shield acts as woofer
Seriously inspirational work Thomas, I would love to get a hold of these sounds (did you sample them yourself or is it a free pack from somewhere?) Either way it's very cinematic sounding and you've done a good job with the authenticity (I think the EDM Snare sounds more like a wood block myself, but I guess I need to get out and listen to more EDM Snares to be a honest judge...)
I can see myself listening to a lot more of this, thanks for sharing!
