Fully funded modular synth, I should be getting mine in November.
"The MOLECULE SYNTH is a unique, utterly new kind of musical instrument. It offers the elemental components of a traditional keyboard synthesizer — a speaker & amp, a sound generator, and a pitch controller — but presents those elements as pieces that you arrange (and rearrange!) in various combinations to create your own musical device. The MOLECULE SYNTH is designed to be intuitive to use: each of its hexagonal pieces is color-coded to indicate what that piece is and does, and each piece is marked to show how it connects to other pieces. With these building blocks, you choose how to configure your instrument, and, later, you can move the pieces and configure an entirely new instrument!" That looks really cool, man! Wouldn't mind getting one of those myself. I'd probably stand a better chance of getting one of em than I would a "Reactable", which it reminds me of a bit. I'd have to sell the wife and kids to buy one of those babies!
The Reactable is something I would definitely like to have. As tablets, touchscreens, and the like become more prevalent, I'm sure there will be more cool things like these to choose from and at lower prices.
Another thing the Reactable reminds me of are these Audiocubes:
Still waiting. Original date said November. I guess the demand and production were a little more than they thought.
Those are all up to how the project unfolds. I gave money to a friend's project to get his band into a recording studio, and I got to get a copy of the CD. Not to say they won't deliver. But it can be hard to tell how things go.
I once bought a synth from this small company that designed this DIY "Hackable" synth, which you could reprogram (open source code) and do all sorts of things. It was supposed to deliver late one November (I had purchased it early that same November), but it didn't deliver until January.
