Slightly off topic, but if given the choice for an all hardware set up, would this be better for producing a raw techno sound?

Being totally honest, there's a lot you can do with a generic sound card, by means of EQ..but it really is a case of you get what you pay for..meaning no standard card is going to give you the same results as a high-end one will.

Like I said before, give this new system a chance and take it for a test drive and see what you end up with..it's the only way to know for sure just what the in-built sound card can do in a music production setting. Then, when you have something to share, upload it to SoundCloud and we can have a listen and see how it sounds.

But, long story short, don't worry too much about it just yet, as you really don't know what your system can or can't do at this stage. Once you have something produced with this system, then you can really tell if there is anything wrong with the sound..and maybe then think about what steps you need to take at that point.

Regardless, we're here to help..so just come back and keep us updated on how things are going with this..OK?

Regarding an all-hardware setup..the in-built sound card really becomes a moot point, as at that point you're looking at getting an external interface anyway to connect everything to your PC..so that wouldn't be an issue.

The sound you get would really depend on the synths you use to make your music..but the PC you haver should be just fine for hooking up hardware to.
