Re: What is modular systems & programming?

Well, ok so everything is programming but then where do you draw the line and post in this section? Why don't people talk about ableton much here?

For example, I automate almost everything in ableton with clip envelopes. Most of the time I use unlinked envelopes so the automation is looped at a different frequency than the clip, and loop different parameters of the same effect at different frequencies, so they interact polyrhythmically. Usually not "simple" stuff like uh I dunno chorus ramping up 50-100% frequency every 3/8ths and 30/90% feedback alternating at 1/4...

OK forget my other questions if you want... do you guys even know what I'm talking about? Am I all alone here? Has ANYONE else ever unlinked a clip envelope??
BTW this is kinda a reason why I haven't explored MAX/MSP... I'm pretty overwhelmed as it is and I can already do the "LFO any parameter" thing people keep talking about. Except I can also choose the exact "waveform" for that LFO.
