Reason users A mono thing
Using Reasons left channel only it turns sound to mono.
Is it better(or not) to split and merge channels to one to get decent mono sound?
Or is it just a vaste of time?

if you want a mono synth, say a thor, just use the left channel (or any of their internat samples) - if you a bringing a stereo sample from outside reason, inside, and it has different info in each channel, say a drum loop for example, then spliting and merging would be better.... imo

Re: Reason users A mono thing
It depends.

Using the left channel only is guaranteed to have a clean and phase issue -free sound. When you mix together two or more channels you create phasing because the two or more signals might not overlap cleanly, but rather phasing occurs. Thus you're left with a weaker overall sound, whereas the left channel would be clean and without phase issues. Sometimes mixing the channels doesn't sound too bad and can also be used as an effect.
