[JAWM] VDB- messy mix o stuff!

So I had wanted to challenge myself on a couple different fronts and wanted to compress my timelines a little instead of my usual messing around in session view. I wanted to be able to get 10 tracks done in a month, looks like i might be lucky if i can get 8, i also wanted to try doing different genres which hasn't entirely been successful either, so all in all a flop lol!
anyways here are the first 2 i bounced, they are both my attempt at dub techno
cheers

#1. Bass line is easily my favorite part of the track, but I dig it as a whole and think everything works well. The melodic motifs are nice as well.

#2. I like that it isn't straight four to the floor the whole tune with the kick. There are some breaky parts. I love the tape stop sounds. I'm not sure about the high tom/disco laser. I like the groove of the element, but the sound it self feels out of place some how. Maybe if it were dirtied up a little bit? That is a minor point really. There is a lot of cool incidental percussive nights now and again I like. Those mechanical crank sounds. The break down 2/3 the way through is very nice. Really like where/how the bass comes back in. Is there a change up in the bass notes? It sounds slightly different faster/funkier.

i wondered when we were gonna hear some stuff!
the mix on the first one has a really nice airy quality about it man and the bass is ballanced in perfectly, really sweet. very jelous of that man, panning is spot on! ive never heard of dub techno before but this one had me arse dancing haha very playful :)

ooh second one the sound design is great, is that you pissing around with the delay time to get that warbly shiz? i love me some warbly shiz lol i dunno why you feel like you flopped this is by no means scrappy work man if you get 8 of these in a month thats a real achievement in my book, youll have a release ready to go:drinks:

Not sure what you mean by the mechanical crank sounds lol but thanks a lot!
And yeah there are I think 3 different bass lines with some minor variations in the 2nd track

If you want to hear dub techno check out deepchord and echo space and basic channel
To me it's techno with tons of delay and reverb so that's what I did lol

Yeah the second has a tape style delay pluggin and reverb that have automation on the delay time and reverb depth maybe.
I may get 8, right now including these 2 I am around 5 done with 2 or 3 more to work on but I was mostly joking when I said I failed, I wanted to try this and had no hard expectations and I learned a bit on how to accelerate my arranging process!
Thanks for the words fellows
Also how do I quote several people in one post?

ok so i bounced 2 more
kinda more in the weird category these 2 i guess

Tried to make a Tangerine Dream track have an unholy child with a techno track on the first one

and the second one, man i have no idea what to call it but i think i like it! it seems really busy to me but also wild and trippy, i think!

Tecnoid: Yea man, loving all these synths. Wonderous. I haven't listened to a ton of TD and not in ages. This does sound very 80's to me though. TBH I don't even remember what decade TD was most active in. I think I'd want something more out of the bassline. More grit/edge. Like vocoded stuff I'm hearing a bit of? Either way. Liking what you are coming up with here for sure! : )

Trippy: Kinda seems like half-time IDM to me...a little dubstep-y, a little glitchy. The synths lean that way too. Very cool man. I really, really like it, but it is a bit hard to groove to. That isn't an absolute requirement, but I can't bob my head to it very easily.

Well JAWM is done for me, I will post up 3 more this weekend putting me at 7! 3 shy of what I had aimed for but there are 2 I gave up on and don't feel like continuing on those tbh!
Now I am going to dive into the MPC and learn that guy inside out and get back into playing more guitar!

OK here we go

Here is another kinda weird one with an EBM/ Front 242 inspired beat and lots of atmospheric stuff!

And another go at Dub techno

And last an unfinished techno 4/4 beat thing with some polyrhythms done on the iPad

I will be posting my 2 fav in the LB as well for more feedback!
learnt a lot i think doing this but i am also glad its done! :D
